According to the "Financial Times", Air India announced today that the company has completed the first phase of the five-year transformation plan. The first phase of the airline's transformation journey focuses on solving the airline's legacy problems and laying the foundation for future growth.
In terms of key investments, Air India placed a historic order for 470 aircraft and announced a $400 million refurbishment of existing aircraft.
In terms of staff, cabin crew and other functions recruited a total of more than 3,800 employees to support growth and improve the customer experience. Air India has also accelerated fleet expansion, taking delivery of 36 leased aircraft in 2022-23, including 11 wide-body aircraft. That helped the airline add six new international routes while increasing frequency on another 24 routes.
