UAE announces ban on flying drones

The UAE Ministry of Interior announced on January 22nd local time that flying drones and light sport aircraft is banned with immediate effect.

Organizations that need to use drones for advertising or commercial filming must communicate with the relevant parties in advance to obtain a flight permit.

The Ministry of the Interior said that the ban was issued to ensure the safety of people's lives and property following a recent incident of drone abuse. The Ministry of the Interior reminded that anyone who does not comply with the rules during the "no-fly" period will be held liable.
